Here are my results using ubuntu dapper::~$ scanimage -d hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4300_series?serial=XXXXXXXXXXXXXX --format=tiff --source ADF --resolution 300 --batch=file%04d.tif -x 215.9 -y 279.4 --mode grayscale --batch-increment=1 --batch-start=1

(scanner status = 5) Scanning page 4 Scanned page 4. (scanner status = 5) Scanning page 5 Scanned page 5. (scanner status = 5) Scanning page 6 Scanned page 6. And it worked correctly. Can you run tail -f /var/log/messages and try scanning and post the output?

Hi Aaron, Here's what I do now: $ scanimage --format=tiff --source ADF --resolution 300 --batch=file%04d.tif -x 215.9 -y 279.4 --mode grayscale --batch-increment=1 --batch-start=1 --batch-count=1 I used to be able to omit the --batch-count, and the 4110 would reliably scan each sheet in the ADF (well, occasionally pages would stick together, but rarely and that's just the rollers and the stock). - Larry. Aaron Larry McCarthy wrote:Hi all, I've had a 4110 for years that I use mostly as a scanner. It's worked verywellfor me, especially since HPLIP came on the scene. Since sometime after 0.9.2, I've been having ADF problems. The ADF nolongersenses out-of-paper - scanimage batch scans run until they're killed with^C. Ihave to give scanimage --batch-count=1 to scan a single page. Multi-pagebatchscans, especially beyond 2 pages, don't accurately find page boundaries -theygenerate about 3 pages for every 2 (but it varies). I thought my trusty old was 4110 giving up the ghost, so I bought a 4315.Itgives the same results - no ADF-empty and unreliable page-boundarydetectionwith 2+ page batch scans. The 4110's ADF works fine under 0.9.2. The 4315isn'tsupported by 0.9.2, so I can't test that. I've reproduced the ADF mis-behavior with 0.9.7 and 1.6.7 under Debian (sid/etch) AMD64 and Ubuntu (6.0.6 - Dapper) AMD64 and i386. 0.9.7 and 1.6.7 behave the same w.r.t. the ADF. 0.9.2 has too many crufty old dependencies, so it's not really an option. Please let me know how I can assist with fixing this (short of coding - notmybag, I'm afraid). -- Thanks, Larry McCarthy ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
