As for the printing of the hearts, that sounds like the wrong PPD file is being used. If you install the printer with hp-setup, and use this new queue, that problem should be fixed.

The printer then prints 3 pages of paper each with a single heart printed.
If I use the officejet on my notebook I have no problems with hplip so it seems to be somehow related to the nslu2 but I have no clue what the problem is. Especially because printing to /dev/usb/lp0 works, the usb disk is operating and hplip recognizes the officejet.
Does anybody have a clue or knows how to find out what the problem is?
