Hi there,
I use hplip for my officejet 6310 on frugalware linux. Everything works
perfectly, except for sending fax by pc. It is simply impossible to add
files to the fax queue: if I use "add to list" from the hp-sendfax tool, it
stays indefinitely longer on "processing fax file"; if i try printing on the
fax version of the printer, the operation disappear from the printing queue
after a while, like it would be accomplished. The cups log file shows, for
the first case:
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:44:53 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 241
CUPS-Get-Printers successful-ok
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:44:53 +0100] "POST
/printers/Officejet_6310_fax HTTP/1.1" 200 20495 Print-Job successful-ok

instead, for the second one, several times these messages:
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:45:51 +0100] "POST /printers/ HTTP/1.1" 200
256 CUPS-Get-Printers successful-ok
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:45:51 +0100] "POST /classes/ HTTP/1.1" 200 221
CUPS-Get-Classes successful-ok
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:45:51 +0100] "POST /printers/ HTTP/1.1" 200
109 CUPS-Get-Default successful-ok
localhost - - [29/Nov/2006:01:45:51 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 384
Get-Jobs successful-ok

The cups error log reports:
I [29/Nov/2006:01:53:28 +0100] Job 26 queued on "Officejet_6310_fax" by
"fuocofatuo".
I [29/Nov/2006:01:53:28 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops
(PID 5021) for job 26.
I [29/Nov/2006:01:53:28 +0100] Started filter
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 5022) for job 26.
I [29/Nov/2006:01:53:28 +0100] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/hpfax
(PID 5023) for job 26.
in both cases.

I tried setting-up the printer by cups and by hp-setup, but the results are
the same... May the problem be related to the lack of "HPLIPS Fax (en)" (as
written in step 4 of your installation manual) in the cups drivers? I had to
choose "HP Fax (en)", since the other wasn't present..

Thanks for your job!

         Paolo
