When the D4160 "christmas trees" like that it means the printer firmware has hung. With the printer out-to-lunch the USB IO will loose connectivity and the USB bus:devnum will no longer be valid. Turning the printer off/on will reset the printer, but any previous print job will have to be canceled since the USB bus:devnum will most likely be new.
I have a D4160 that prints ok with FC5 and CUPS 1.2. Can you give us more specific feedback? 1. Show us the output of the syslog during both print jobs. 2. What application are you printing from? 3. What are you printing? Is the failure content specific? 4. Is this one configuration that fails? Have you tried other PCs, or Distros? -dave > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf > Of Patrick M. > Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 1:53 PM > To: hplip help > Subject: [Hplip-help] Printing problems - Deskjet D4160 > > Hello, > > First, a little info about my setup.
