I don't know. I build it only via our build system and install the RPMs on my workstation(s) for testing because I don't want to "pollute" my workstation(s) with locally built and installed stuff which can result whatever nice unexpected side effects when I install and test the RPMs. I already wrote about HPLIP on the openSUSE build service (see my mail dated Thu 25 Jan 2007). Have a look at my RPM spec file in the src.rpm package (in the src sub-directories) how I build it.
