Hi everyone,
I am revisiting this problem after a break of some months.
I have an HP Officejet 1170c that hangs whenever I try to scan through xsane.
Xsane detects it ok and loads up and the scanner makes the normal noise. When
pressing Preview or Scan the CPU hits 100% and stays there.
Here is output of /var/log/messages and scanimage -L from Debian Etch system.

Versions:
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 1.6.10)
Device Information Utility ver. 3.4
xsane 0.991
The scanner used to work with Suse 9.2, but since then I have not had it
working on any distributions.
Currently I am running Ubuntu 6.10 and Debian Etch both with the same results
and have tried on other distributions.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Daniel Phillips
