I will enter a defect into our database. That doesn't guarantee it will get
fixed, but it puts it onto our TODO list.

XSane is somewhat better as kooka, because the A4 mode is working.
but the problem remains at libsane-hpaio backend which delivers a false
y-coordinate. I hope you are able to improve that.

You can switch the toolbox to use xsane (or other program) by using the
settings dialog under "Settings | Configure HP Device Manager...". I believe
the correct command line would be "xsane -d %DEVICE_URI%"
