Matthew,
If you want to fully remove and uninstall hplip you'll need to cd into the
source directory. If you ran the auto installer the hplip source directory
is automaticly created in whatever directory you ran 'sh hplip-2.7.6'.
Assuming you know where that is, you run:
cd hplip-2.7.6
su
make uninstall
rm -rf /usr/share/hplip
cd ..
rm -rf hplip-2.7.6
The last command will remove the hplip source directory.
