Hello,

I have a simple question about supported printers. I have seen my printer
in the unsupported list and want to ask, does this mean I cannot use it or
does it mean you don't have a specific driver, i.e. can I install a driver
for a very similar printer. I am very suprised to see in the FAQ's that
most models are planned to be supported within a month, becuase the
printer I have is the color laserjet 2600n, a very popular model and I
cannot see why it should be on the unsupported list given how many of
these have been sold (i'm not knocking you of course, i'm just suprised
its one of the fwe that aren't supported becuase I bought it on the
grounds it was a popular model and the man in the shop said it would
probably be supported). I want to know if I can use a driver for something
similar eg 2605dn? I use linux but am not very good with it. I just want
to do what ever is simplest to get it working in fedora core 4 on either
ethernet or usb, i don't really care about any frills of exactly how it
works, just as long as i can print. I really am at your mercy here becuase
I have just bought this printer and really need to use it as I am writing
my phd thesis on a linux machine and desparately need to print things out.

Hope you can help me,
best regards,
Bobby
