I have had pre-configured printing support for a networked hp lj 1320tn working fine for a year or more on CentOS 4.4.
I am now adding a new networked OfficeJet Pro L7680. I had no issues getting it to work with several XP boxes, with the drivers that came in the box. The CentOS situation is where I have a problem (duh). There was no entry for this model in the Printer configuration utility. I selected Generic, PCL 6/PCL XL on a Jet Direct port. The test page print gave me nothing but some text - ") HP-PCL;1;1;Comment Copyright Aladdin Enterprises 1996", followed by a half-line of gibberish, then many blank pages. A net chat w/ hp tech supp sent me to this project, of which I had previously been unaware. There was not a canned installer for CentOS, so I tried following the Manual Install instructions. Problem 1: ./installer/permissions.py replied with "Line not found". After looking at the script, I dismissed this as inconsequential, as I am network-connected, not USB (OK?). Skipped ./installer/trigger.py with the same rationale. Hp-check listed several errors. The first is that HPOJ is running. How do I stop hpoj? Ps does not seem to show it, and neither does chkconfig. Does this go by a different name? Is there some config file I need to modify? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
