While reading "Down and Out in the Magic Kindom", I develope an
interest in the history of the Hauted Manson and how the effects were
created. I suspect others may have cultivated a similar curiousity.
In know the review is Tuesday, but here are some of the materials I
looked at.

doombuggies.com
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Bu89gS4jE History video with the
original designers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqv1M9oJsT4 Behin the scenes look at
the mansion, but the designers are in this one too, ought to be good.

I also "virtualy" rode all the versions of the Haunted Mansion (I
suggest looking for POV versions recorded with night vision on
Youtube. The California and Orlando version are very similar, as you
would expect. The "Phantom Manor" at Paris Disney adds some old west
themes to the graveyard and has unique portraits in the Elongating
Room. The Haunted Mansion in Tokyo replaces most everyting past the
ballroom with "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and seems to have
eliminated the Elongating Room.

Disney Hong Kong's "Mystic Manor" uses a totally different approach. A
magic music box gets opened by an animated monkey, the magic visibly
spreads just ahead of you as you move through the house (the
projection effect of the magic is incredible, I need to find a vid
that explains how it is done). Any way, the house is full of
antiquities like suits of armor that come to life and try to kill you.
Unlike the others, most of Mystic Manor is brightly lit.

Looking forward to the review tomorrow.
