My vote is no we should not do it. - From a promoting podcast point of view, I had hoped that the show would be a catalyst for getting other podcasters together as a general "FLOSS Podcast event". This in turn would lead to a more vibrant community, and have the knock on effect of getting more contributions. This is not happening. Whither it is from lack of promotion of the event, lack of participation, or the fact that many people consider their presence on the new year show to be their contribution for the year. Then there's the stress involved in any live event. Things going wrong, people needing to be contacted outside of office hours. We are asking a lot of people to help and be available for the duration of the show, and yet we only get a participation of about 100 people. - From a personal point of view it means that I am away from my family during the show. The New Year time is an important celebration in the Netherlands in general, been a time for meeting up with the neighbors, friends and family. Ignoring the time running up to the show, the entire day before and after is spent away from my family and children. Don't get me wrong, I love the show for all that and it's a great time to have a chat with everyone. But if you ask me, I can live without the hassle. - -- Regards, Ken Fallon http://kenfallon.com http://hackerpublicradio.org/correspondents.php?hostid=30 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJUXKryAAoJECO2jUN3MRFpxRcP/2Q6j1r556bVZLGxAsRJlF7M NgWB9BFg2z6uHo7PMTqUBLkMHRCqOKEDTL7j0vZqo85EbimB2Xh/9Le8FhIEQzTd uBJOMqyFZUBTBzDw/+bi4yduj0rkWnFjJYv4BCax/ttIfCvl/4kK+DbZIF+/krp/ HwHvPlnHgGD85NFyXcL5k0GVB78EJHDWXCM0iXSd6GeX+AYkjzgnUCa7xrnZcuiM fBv6mCJWieOCM8WEk9aSDbZ+ygDMnRw6H3y3SEGtSQczdVstYWnYeIS4gpaRFBds GunLb5r1djYKUVpphBQN3dG0FnPAIc8/Nn+mnD2HWuuldNF4uK9hXH8Avl4jKLs7 5ZJeXxdwKrFNe2iV47i0DGacfY99kYuJFuzGHdqiSHKJtFXc/zgrQG9DJfq8UjT9 NX/N/fnaGfDYVSS2OFI0xgQ8YG0zz/AbXegTmTkTjY1/HmsvNWMrexo4d35ebexl 0uqkT8uZrAd+v/+TFHbO5jCeWcbVEWP8PODbtT30Y91yk8gOzvytAsJ5meecuYDH W/xnQa9IBk5gRkMhWkB3IamGv8qR3silRWoUJMWSVzBzxiZecl0HN7kpd7Vm2yVO 9yixxUmNCu1tqfOYr8AnqEYnH4zV7iqasEjufZQlYgO03pqtvUzY8A4ZM5jBoxRS XtVoBIfPLGlCWpUevEGG =giV6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Hpr mailing list [email protected] http://hackerpublicradio.org/mailman/listinfo/hpr_hackerpublicradio.org
