I myself am wondering, as an optional idea (if the person has expertise in editing shows themselves,) if they could add the sponsor at the appropriate spot during a particular theme? For example, if using the slick theme, the sponsor part would be inserted during the melody. While if using one of the Roller Coaster themes, the person would insert the spot after either the melody, or in the case of version 3 of the Roller Coaster theme, it'd be right when it gets softer.
As I am myself, a blind/visually impaired user, the speech at the beginning is also a bit off putting. Not necessarily the voice, (Though at least the festival woman one sounded better than the normal eSpeak voice,) well... No podcast, not even blindness specific ones, such as Sero Talk: http://serotalk.com , do not have an intro like that. Sure, there could be a teaser at the beginning before the intro and sponsor, similar to how Tech News Today does it, http://twit.tv/tnt , but not something that takes over a minute to be read by a non human voice. I'd say just under 30 seconds, between 15 to 30 seconds for a "tiny" summary. Certainly it wouldn't be as long as the "written" one. Those are just "my" thoughts on the matter.
