No. Firstly we use different messages depending on the location where ther episode is served from. Secondly hosts rarely download new themes and templates after their first episode. I am still getting shows with the old intros and outros attached. Thirdly it adds enormous effort to check if everything has been added. There is no way to do it automatically, so I will need to download every episode and check them end to end. > As I am myself, a blind/visually impaired user, the speech at the > beginning is also a bit off putting. I can understand that it annoys blind users who are used to tweaking their tts, but it's there as a convenience for people who are operating vehicles, listening while running, etc. It has been the most requested feature over the years. It allows people to know what the show is about so they can choose to delete it, listen to it now, or later. It means that they can continue doing what ever task they are doing by just pressing delete, or next. This is why it must be at the very beginning after the sponsor message, and before the intro. There is an option to add it yourself at the beginning and signalling that in the show notes. Of the times that setting has been flagged, over 50% had forgotten to add the summary or had put it in the wrong place. This means that for shows where it is flagged, I now download and manually check for the summary before I process the shows. I am not always at a location that has the bandwidth to download the large flac files to listen to them, so this is leading to processing delays. Like changing the intro, removing the text to speech summary will require approved from the list and the community at large. Given the amount of effort that has been put into enabling the text to speech summary end to end, I personally will be strongly against this effort unless there is majority support to remove it. - -- Regards, Ken Fallon http://kenfallon.com http://hackerpublicradio.org/correspondents.php?hostid=30 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJUbjP9AAoJECO2jUN3MRFptykP/3eAo0DvUC4vxO4i5xMkflys pB3a8Ep1VNXr4eH4VlGP8m6x57xBQjsByprYtOmzdljU/6WGgqRTZW90KBTvyEl4 XLFp/k3zgJtl4PMUYy7dIT8CLwQQBf/GIHVuqdqXm222Lg5Oqtl/vUE9SzWy9zeb OvgZeMansjIizOqKrsGcE9atydymailwk6R/r2aurFVyBzmK+WY7umeMHZz3demw gRhMM78UnluEpDLM3ebnLxXzk8H6mEL6dsDezbBwCbvn9E+dwajud9m2SGD7eTf7 R7CuK4DgOzIN5q0K71Yl5V7xGKxcddnZRvwM/fASH99WKG/8PGT/qgXQgVcsM0Eg IbkMFluje2SKHkSxMXT7uxgkiJgAtw+RilZRY5DBPlHG7LkxxD28le4tL3JFo03W AETNdQgqIbwfZ1sh+hIWDf8Lw2t06KJllvx8Km7PfL5w5GacPCqT9msYbyLFmEep 5gi2kAMvAht6lCxlFuDFJlHp1dzIrS/3r8G73F5qKzb3FhFHsQ2r4jJSROZbVWkb LZC42yEs+Zn0P14wiXgrwpxI5VTh4Q0b8Xj0ohLgSJSqgio1EIcVXNtCj7aMZigc uWpMgXJ4EZlhXzvQmxe7M8XRgxMXrKLDCZyacL4mhAY9+EwXMeczN3m2cNbR1wMb ZbOoWWyNcCQe7DIJTpa9 =y+fA -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Hpr mailing list [email protected] http://hackerpublicradio.org/mailman/listinfo/hpr_hackerpublicradio.org
