Is there support in the developer community for this effort? Right now, we
are trying to extend the J2SE and J2EE functionality, with most of the
effort going to the former and experimental effort in the latter. I'm
currently updating the home page site to include developer pages/spaces.
Does the J2ME interest in the developer community warrant a separate area
for this effort?

This was prompted by Darvin Zuch's question at:

https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=654026&forum_id=131132

as follows:

I hope i don't sound too silly by suggesting porting hsql into Windows CE.
We've have a proprietary flat file db we've created so we can store a huge
database on ce and are finding we need something more robust. Do you think
its resonable for us to port hsql over to something that would run on ce or
could you suggest another db that would be alot more relevent for us?

to which I replied:

Our maintainer, Mark Tutt, did and experimental C# / .NET port a while
back...its at

http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/database/SharpHSQL.asp

with an OReilly write-up at:

http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/user/view/wlg/368

Our erstwhile Chief Science Officer, boucherb, has a solid advice thread on
hsqldb with J2ME at

https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=651101&forum_id=73674

Unfortunately, outside of Sun's own PersonalJava initiative, support for
Java on PDAs is limited at best. If there is support among the developers,
we can host a discussion of and development for hsqldb on J2ME. We are
currently concentrating on adding additional functionality for J2SE and J2EE
and I will add documents for experimental port issues to the Sun J2ME
profiles in the v.1.7FINAL package.
