No, it seems like the htdig group directory has no quota (or at least a
very large one). So I moved the directories in there and set the scripts
accordingly.
So the moral of the story is:
user quota 10MB
FTP quota 60MB
(working on this, though they evidently want to push HTTP access)
group quota >350MB

I could certainly do it off my workstation here, but at the moment it
doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. The catch was that over the US
holiday weekend, I couldn't easily get into the office. (They close the
campus for maintenance.)
Hopefully things should go fine now.
