That sounds odd... a) Could you please post the config file you used? b) If you use the supplied config file (with directories set appropriately for your site), do start/end_ellipses work? c) Does running htsearch -vv give any hints? d) When you say "ignoring my config data", does it ignore anything other than the ellipses entries?
