Greetings Robert,

One thought has occurred to me.  I once had trouble with the (new?) 
way "valid_punctuation" treats documents containing C code and other 
non-text data.  If you still have 3.2.0b5 installed, could you 
suggest that the user try it with "valid_punctuation" empty?  No 
promises, but it may help us determine what the trouble is.
