[htdig] All search results end in .gif

I have run into a problem with HTDIG that causes it to display all links in
the long form search results incorrectly.  All the links disply the link as a
.gif, even though in the database file db.docdb, the files are listed as 
ending in .html.  For example, I have a document that should link to 
/tech/ciscoisdn.html but the results appear as /tech/ciscoisdn.gif.  

I am using the most recent version of htdig that I could find at the end of
December with the SSL patch as my website is entirely https.  As such, the URL's
also display as http:// instead of as https:// , but that is a minor issue as
http does redirect through apache to https.  Does anyone have any ideas as to
how to solve this?
