I'm having problems compiling ht/dig on a recent Tru64 as follows:
bash$ uname -a
OSF1 alpha-1 V5.1 732 alpha
I'm trying a vanilla install of htdig-3.1.5 and htdig-3.2.0b2, but 3.1.5
is the one I really want to get working.
Here's last bit from the make (the full output from 'configure' and
'make' is available):
------
c++ -c -DDEFAULT_CONFIG_FILE=\"/opt/www/htdig/conf/htdig.conf\"
-I../htlib -I../htcommon -I../db/dist -I../include -g -O2 Object.cc
mips-tfile, /tmp/ccoXGf2W.s:8 Invalid .stabs/.stabn directive, value not
found
line: #.stabs
"/usr/users/support/htdig/htdig-3.1.5/htlib/",100,0,0,$Ltext0
mips-tfile, /tmp/ccoXGf2W.s:9 Invalid .stabs/.stabn directive, value not
found
line: #.stabs "Object.cc",100,0,0,$Ltext0
make[1]: *** [Object.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/users/support/htdig/htdig-3.1.5/htlib'
make: *** [all] Error 1
------
I get this sort of error whether I'm using gcc or the manufacturers cc.
The 'mips-tfile' looks confusing, is configure misdetecting the
architecture/platform by any chance?
Does anyone know if precompiled binaries exist that are compatible with
this version of Tru64. I must confess that I don't really like Tru64,
but I'm stuck with it on this project unfortunately....
Regards
Alan
PS If anyone knows of a decent pre-compiled gcc for Tru64, or a source
build that works then I'd love to know.
PPS If you want to check your code for Tru64 compatibility let me know
too.
