Hi
I'm rephrasing the question from my last post in the hope that someone
has an answer.
I'm using htdig 3.1.5 under Linux.
I'm using the keywords option on the search form to restrict search
results.
The keywords are automatically generated.
Sometimes the keywords contain *and* or punctuation *'* and *,* etc
When this happens the search returns no results, even though the item
exists.
I have a search form that has no hidden keywords.
If I enter a search using punctuation or *and* etc I get search results
(it seems as if the punctuation is ignored)
Logic tells me that a search string:
Dudley +and+ sport and leisure +and+ photo
will return pages containing all Dudley, Sport, Leisure Photo.
A plain search with no hidden keywords does exactly that (ignoring the
and in sport and leisure)
If the search string is made up thus:
Hidden keywords = Dudley Sport and Leisure
and the entered word is photo.
The search string should be the same.
However no results are found at all.
So my question is:
Hidden keywords added to the search string that include punctation or
"and" cause a failure to search. Why? and what can I do to get around
it?
Thanks
Tony
