Did you try running htsearch from a command line?

Hello Everyone. I need some help. Today I realized that when a user
searches any of my domains they are not receiving any matches. The search
seems to run fine though. I have never had any trouble with this in the
past. The databases are all in place and populated -- in fact they are
updated weekly via cron. Any ideas? I thought maybe the htdig.conf was
looking at the the worng db directory, but all appears to be ok...
