Hmmm. I don't know what vector space retrieval is. htdig builds a word
index that tells htsearch essentially which document contain a given word.
I believe this is known as a reverse index, although the term doesn't
make intuitive sense to me, as I'd think of this as a conventional index.
htsearch does build a boolean expression out of the given search words,
or can be given a boolean expression directly, and it will parse that
boolean expression to determine the set of matching documents. Does this
help clarify matters?
