I had this happen to me at one time. Turns out, my rundig script was
writing to a specific invariant filename (/tmp/htdig.report), but I had
ended up running multiple copies of this rundig script at the same time
via cron (for different htdig databases). So although my db's were never
actually corrupted, my logfiles were. The solution is to include the name
of your db somewhere in the name of your log (or report) file, e.g.
/tmp/site1.htdig.report and /tmp/site2.htdig.report
