I think "flaw" is a bit much--it's certainly a limitation, but it's also
something that was planned. We'd call what you describe "chaining" the
fuzzy algorithms and has been mentioned for a long time. Certainly
allowing the fuzzy algorithms to return varying weights would also help
(e.g. some words are less "fuzzy" than others).

Keep in mind as well that chaining fuzzy algorithms could slow down search
results as well.

If someone would like to take charge of implementing chained fuzzy
algorithms, that would be great, but Gilles and I certainly have full
plates. I'd be glad to point people to the appropriate places in the code.
