Hi,
We are using ht://Dig successfully for many months. Here is how we
proceeded up to now :
1. One Linux server (Mandrake 7.1, kernel v2.2.15) is used to index the
various web servers we are managing. (htdig, htmerge, htfuzzy).
2. A second Linux server (RedHat 6.2, kernel v2.0.36) is used to answer the
queries from our users (htsearch).
3. When 1st server is ready with a new set of db.* files, they are uploaded
as-is by FTP to 2nd server.
This was working perfectly.
But now, we upgraded 1st server to Mandrake 8.0 (kernel v2.4.7). When we
try to look at search results using 2nd server, the results are still OK
(it shows the same as 1st server does) except for the fact than excerpts
are blank (but for a very few ones). Everything else is correct (URI, size
of doc, last time of modification).
Would you think it is the new kernel version which is responsible for that
? (I mean : is it a reason why it was working when transfering from kernel
v2.2.15 to kernel v2.0.36 and it wouldn't anymore when transfering from
v2.4.7 to v2.0.36) ? What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks for your advice.
Olivier Korn,
Strasbourg, France.
(I know : my english is awful. Sorry about that).
