Well, I have been sitting here for about ten hours trying every which
way: reinstalling, deleting, re-uploading, etc., etc.
Finally, I did the following which brings me to my present impasse:
1. Erase every reference to htdig on server, starting fresh.
2. Upload htdig-3.1.5.tar.gz to www subdirectory.
3. Gunzip using tar xvfz htdig-3.1.5.tar.gz (which opens htdig-3.1.5
subdirectory)
4. cd htdig-3.1.5 subdirectory
5. Type in:
./configure --prefix=/home/mydomainname
--with-cgi-bin-dir=/home/www/cgi-bin
--with-image-dir=/home/mydomainname/images
--with-search-dir=/home/mydomainname/www
mydomainname just used for example, here, I used my actual
domainname in what I entered on the server, however.
6. Tried this several times, and receive:
"No such file or directory."
7. tried using perl instead of ./ and received "cannot open perl" "no
such file or directory."
I feel I may be pretty close to a solution, but am truly stumped
now. Sorry for seeming so dense.
But I am trying!
If you can just help me over this last hurdle. Thanks.
PS I can go back and run ./configure and then edit CONFIG file, but I am
trying to follow your instructions to avoid doing so. Thanks.
