Didn't happen to come across question 1.16 in the FAQ, did you? ;-) > Creating directories (if needed)... > mkdir /opt/www > mkdir: Failed to make directory "/opt/www"; Permission denied > mkdir /opt/www/htdig > mkdir: Failed to make directory "/opt/www/htdig"; No such file or directory > mkdir /opt/www/htdig/bin > mkdir: Failed to make directory "/opt/www/htdig/bin"; No such file or > directory > mkdir /opt/www > mkdir: Failed to make directory "/opt/www"; Permission denied > mkdir /opt/www/htdig > mkdir: Failed to make directory "/opt/www/htdig"; No such file or directory > > etc, etc. > > I have the CONFIG file set up correctly, I believe, (although it may have > been wrong before but I have since rerun configure and make) and I don't know > where it's getting the "opt" path, but it doesn't exist. Shouldn't it be > looking to my CONFIG file to decide where to make directories? What can I do? I don't see an htdig version number anywhere in there. If you're building a 3.2 beta release or snapshot, you need to specify the paths on the ./configure command line. See ./configure --help. If you're building 3.1.5, or a 3.1.6 snapshot, try grep'ing through the source files and Makefiles to see where it might be picking up this "/opt/www" path. I thought it was supposed to be restricted to CONFIG, but I may be wrong. You may also want to try a fresh installation from the source tarball to rule out any past mistakes. If you're building anything older than 3.1.5 you're wasting your time. -- Gilles R. Detillieux E-mail: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Spinal Cord Research Centre WWW: http://www.scrc.umanitoba.ca/~grdetil Dept.
