I don't see an htdig version number anywhere in there.  If you're
building a 3.2 beta release or snapshot, you need to specify the paths
on the ./configure command line.  See ./configure --help.

If you're building 3.1.5, or a 3.1.6 snapshot, try grep'ing through
the source files and Makefiles to see where it might be picking up this
"/opt/www" path.  I thought it was supposed to be restricted to CONFIG,
but I may be wrong.  You may also want to try a fresh installation from
the source tarball to rule out any past mistakes.

If you're building anything older than 3.1.5 you're wasting your time.
