I think it must have created a file somewhere based on an incorrect configuration and then when I corrected the configuration and reran the configure/make/etc. it didn't replace the incorrect file. Unfortunately now I'm having a similar problem with xpdf wanting to make directories in /usr/local/bin and permission is denied. I sent my last message to you before I recieved yours.
