Thanks all, I will go with option # 2 in Mark's mail. I know that there is an option 
of running the configure with parameters, is it the same as running it with no 
config_dir parameters and then changing the CONFIG file with an editor?

        Why don't you just copy the file into your /opt/www/htdig/conf directory? We 
run three web servers off the same htdig program with different configuration files 
for each one. htdig.conf  server2.conf and server3.conf.

        Just a though.
