IN SHORT: -------- I cannot get my install to work! There seem to be something wrong with the /cgi-bin/ containing the htsearch.
html search result: Not Found The requested URL /cgi-bin/htsearch was not found on this server. Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/1.3.20 Server at 192.168.1.1 Port 80 SYSTEM: ------- My apache which has been up and running for 9 months now on my Mandrake 8.1 with Apache 1.3.20 I recall that during that install of Apache 1.3.20, I moved apache to the /home catalog since I have that as a separate partition. Something might have happened then, but the apache is running smoothely for my html- and php-files. And I am currently reluctant to do an unnescessary reinstall of a working webserver. Now as I wanted to install htdig, I notice that there was one copy of htdig 3.2.0 already installed. It didn't work, although it had a higher edition number(?), I removed it and tried installing the most recent, htdig 1.3.6 /home/httpd/html/ contains the files that are shown via apache. In parallel, on the same level as the /home/httpd/html/ the /home/httpd/cgi-bin/ was placed. I have however never tested that part of the apache since I havent used anything but php for scripting before. Thinking, maybe this folder didn't work, I generated a new folder in addition, and installed over again with htsearch to be placed in it: /home/httpd/html/cgi-bin/ THE INSTALL: ------------ I installed the htdig 1.3.6 I did among other things the following cchanges to the CONFIG file: prefix= /home/httpd/html/htdig CGIBIN_DIR= /home/httpd/html/cgi-bin SEARCH_DIR= /home/httpd/html/htdig The install went OK according to the messages as I followed the Instructions on the installation page at htdig.org I generated the test database by running the rundig: /home/httpd/html/htdig/bin/rundig This went OK as the command line test of the htsearch seemed to work properly - at least the output generated lots of feedback that might be sencible (judgded by a novice) I have done total deletion of the htdig installs a few times, and redid the full install procedure. The quote above from the CONFIG is the last one. PREVIOUS POSTS ON THIS LIST: --------------------------- I searched around and found that this problem had been adressed before on this list. I found something from a year ago, and the last one was from a week ago. There was some reference to ScriptAlias(?) I do not have any ScriptAlias in my httpd.conf.
