All,
After converting to my partition to Reiser, I was able to index and db
came to exactly 2 GB and did not crash. In my haste to see if it had
worked, I failed to notice it was exact and not exceeding 2 GB. The
next index (a few days ago), HtDig did in fact crash. I have had to
adjust .conf to get smaller headers so I can stay under 2 GB. Sorry to
dissapoint, I thought I had it licked.

I know of at least 2 others having this same problem and feel the FAQ
1.10 is not correct. If there is anyone else running HtDig on x86 Linux
with db's in excess of 2 GB, please let us know the trick!
I can manually create files up to 100 GB (all of my free space) but dig
dies everytime at 2 GB, even on Reiser. Any comment/input from the
developers?

Subject: Re: [htdig] having a database bigger than 2 GB

Peter Asemann's bits of Wed, 17 Jul 2002 translated to:

You might want to double check the information you have been
provided. Based on everything I have read (admittedly limited),
ext3 is just ext2+journaling; it doesn't address the 2GB limit.

into file
>size limit problems? Is that... a thing one can fix by just editing a
few lines

ht://Dig itself doesn't place any limits on file size. In fact,
just a couple weeks ago, someone wrote the list and stated that
after switching to the Reiser filesystem (from ext3) they were
able to start working with >2GB database files.
