The logging uses the system's logging facility. The exact details will vary somewhat depending on system and configuration. If you have man pages installed, try 'man syslog' and 'man syslog.conf' for more information on the logging facility. Often syslog.conf is located in /etc. Looking at this file should point you to the location of the actual log files. Often they end up somewhere in /var/log. You will most likely need root access, or the help of your system administrator, to modify the syslog configuration (possible even to view the contents of the log files).
