1. OK, honing in on the "possibilities." The "proper backslashes." That is what I
do not understand. Guess what I don't understand is where should I place these
backslashes? Am willing to try, if I have a clue or a hint.

2. You say, "Look for db.log in your database directory." I do not find any such
file in my directory structure.

I have tried under /dig/htdig-3.1.5/db/db and see many files, none of which is db.log,
however. Is this a file the system admin would need to look up? I am on a shared
computer in another city, which I do not have access to (except by Telnet). And, I do
not have "root" access. Perhaps I do not understand the question. Should I contact
my admin and ask him to try to find such a file and delete it? Will the program
re-create it? If so, do I need to perform this task each time I want to re-index?
Sorry it I do not udnerstand, but I am trying. Have been at this all of today and
most of yesterday.

Thanks.
