hi, I am using apache tomcat 4.0.5 in linux machine. I
have installed htdig and for configuring I have
followed the following steps given in
linuxheadquarters.com
I have given "start_url xx.yy.zz.abc/examples" in
htdig.conf. This htdig.conf is in /opt/www/htdig/conf
directory. my index.html for tomcat is in
/usr/tomcat405/webapps/ROOT. Indexing was successful
for examples directory. xx.yy.zz.abc is the ip address
which in my browser shows jakarta logo.
Step 1. I have run /opt/www/htdig/bin/rundig -v
It ran successfully.
Step 2. copied search.html and gif files from
/opt/www/htdocs/htdig to directory htdig in my
webRoot. ie i copied to /usr/tomcat405/webapps/ROOT
(means i created a directory htdig and copied files)
step 3.copied /opt/www/cgi-bin/htsearch to the cgi-bin
of the webserver ie I created a directory cgi-bin in
the same above ROOT directory and copied htsearch.
step 4. test search.html in browser and enter a
string. I entered a string in the search box and got a
page full of junk characters.
The steps have been downloaded from the site given
above. But it is not working for me. What could b the
reason for the junk characters. It may b noted that
even a "string not found" is not coming but only
meaningless characters.
Could somebody please help me?
