I'm indexing a medium size web site (about 300 pages) using 3.2.0b3 on Solaris
2.7.
There are several pages on the site which contain the word "scripts" but there
is a particular page (a FAQ) which we would like to be most relevant page when
someone searches for "scripts". We have this META tag:
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="scripts">
However, this page consistently shows up low in the search results. Many
other pages which contain the word "scripts" are showing up with higher
relevance.
The file in question contains "scripts" at least 8 times, in addition to the
keywords tag, and is rated with 2 stars. Another HTML file, which contains
the word one time (in the text of a link, if that matters) is rated with 4
stars.
I've tried using keywords_factor in the config file (various values, 100,
1000, 2000, or not at all) and it doesn't seem to affect anything. I've tried
making the tag be htdig-keywords instead of keywords, but that didn't change
anything.
I've constructed some small test cases with two files, and it seems that the
keywords tag does have the desired effect, but in this larger collection it
doesn't seem to. Am I missing something? Any ideas for things to try? I've
run out of ideas myself ...
Thanks,
Mark
