Is rundig a custom script?  If so it would help to post the script here.
I ran htdig quite a while ago and don't remember a rundig command.

Also, do a "df -k" to see if any filesystems are full.

Also, do a "top" followed by pressing "M" to get a list of the most memory
hungry apps on your system, and post the results here.
