I am brand new to htdig and don't even know if I am sending this e-mail to the right place. I hope I am following the right protocol. If anyone can reply directly to me (or cc), I would very much appreciate it.

My web service provider (verio) suggested htdig for my site's search engine. I am familiar with html, but have little knowledge of other technical matters. I installed htdig and all seemed to go OK but I am having two problems that I cannot solve.

1. RESULTS HTML/FORMAT
I have modified the header and footer html files with sucess but I now want to modify the look of the results body and cannot get the html changes in the template to show up. Based on what I read in the archives, I uncommented my configuration file to read as follows:

***<snip>***
#
# The following are the templates used in the builtin search results
# The default is to use compiled versions of these files, which produces
# slightly faster results. However, uncommenting these lines makes it
# very easy to change the format of search results.
# See <http://www.htdig.org/hts_templates.html> for more details.
#
template_map: Long long ${common_dir}/long.html \
Short short ${common_dir}/short.html
template_name: long
***</snip>***

This returns NO RESULTS AT ALL in the body even though it shows the correct number of records found in the header. When I add the comment marks back in front of the three above lines, the results come back but, they do not reflect my template changes.

2. CAN'T GET PAST PAGE 10 IN THE FOOTER
There does not seem to be any way to go to page 11, etc., when more than 10 pages of search results are returned.

Thanks;
Perry
