Hello everybody,

    I’m quite new to htdig so please forgive my ignorance.

    I set up htdig (version 3.2.0b5) to index one of my internal websites on a Fedora
Core box (running Apache 2.0.49). For the most part it is working fine. My searches
all work and they return the results I want to.

    The only problem I am having is when I do searches with ‘special’ characters.

    For example if I perform a search with the following criteria:

       One

    I get proper results returned to me

    If I perform another search with the following criteria:

     @one

    I get proper results returned to me

   However if I perform a search with the following criteria:

    @one@

    I come across some problems.

    After several minutes of searching htdig returns the following error:

     The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
complete your request.

    The httpd server error log states the following after the failure:

    [Wed Jul 07 13:17:45 2004] [error] [client 192.168.11.140] Premature end of script
headers: htsearch, referer:
http://mydomain/cgi-bin/htsearch?config=htdig&restrict=&exclude=&method=and&format=long&sort=time&[EMAIL
 PROTECTED]

    I then decided to try out the htsearch CLI function. When I entered the following
query:

     @one@

 I didn’t get a response until several minutes later. The response I received is
‘Alarm clock’. This seems to me that things ‘timed out’.

This problem does not just occur with the @ sign but also <, (, ?.

I assume this is an easy fix, but for the life of me can’t figure it out. I’ve gone
through the documentation and mailing list and haven’t found anything that would solve
my problem yet (maybe I missed it somewhere).

 So I was wondering if any of you kind and wise people could possibly lead me in the
right direction.

Thanks,
  Roman Rochelt
