Hi,

I am trying to index files that contain native turkish characters with
htdig, but no success.

I have read the manual, faq and the list archives several times but nothing
worked.

Turkish uses tr_TR as locale and iso-8859-9. I have configured the locale
attribute of htdig from conf/htdig.conf as locale: tr_TR.ISO_8859-9. I have
also set the environmental LANG=tr.

There is both tr_TR and tr directories under /usr/share/locale/.

It doesn't work. Htdig correctly indexes the files with standart characters
ignoring the turkish characters.

Is there anything more I should do?

I am using htdig 3.0.12. I have tested on two systems. Both use slackware
4.0. One has kernel 2.2.11 and the other 2.2.6. Both has kernel native
language supports.

I have checked out for ispell (as it was noted on the faq), but there is no
turkish ispell dictionary and accordingly to the author, one cannot be done
(the structure of the turkish language won't allow it). Is an ispell
dictionary a must for indexing?

Thanks for all help in advance.
