Town pays homage to headless rooster that survived for 18 months
FRUITA, Colorado -- Back in the 1940s Mike the rooster was destined for a cooking pot. The local farmer who owned him cut off his head at the base of the skull. But Mike didn't die. He was still alive the next morning. So the farmer started feeding him with an eyedropper. After staying alive for 18 months and making it into the Guiness Book of Records, Mike passed away when he choked on a kernel of corn.
Now the town of Fruita is honoring their heritage with a sculpture of Mike made of axe heads, sickle blades and other cutting instruments.

Bear tumbles out of truck onto highway
NEW ORLEANS -- Motorists on a central New Orleans freeway reported seeing a dazed black bear wandering down the highway on Sunday.
The 450-pound black bear was actually part of a traveling circus. The door of the truck carrying the bear had swung open allowing the bear to tumble out onto the highway. The bear appeared to be as startled as the motorists. Zoo officials said that after a little rest he was in good condition.

|
NEW YORK (CNN) -- The hypermuscular bodies on display at New York's New Museum of Contemporary Art have more definition than a dictionary. And the bodies in question happen to belong to women.
An exhibit called "Picturing the Modern Amazon," which features women flexing in front of photos of themselves, examines the relationship between the pumped-up female body and social power.
