'Barbie for President'
WASHINGTON -- She may have missed most primaries but she'll likely win the youth vote. Mattel Inc. has teamed up with The White House Project, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that promotes women candidates, to produce a "Barbie for President" doll slated to hit shelves on May 1.
Her accessories include a slinky red dress with matching shoes. She comes packaged in a red, white and blue box with a disclaimer at the bottom that reads, "Podium not included. Doll cannot stand alone."

Postal employee on medical leave after being forced to cut nails
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- A supervisor with inch-long nails at the Postal Service has taken medical leave after being forced to cut her nails in order to comply with regulations.
In 1995, a new postmaster instituted a rule that forced employees to keep their nails no longer than a quarter-inch past the finger tip for safety reasons. Supervisor Lolita Dash escaped punishment for years until her bosses began disciplinary hearings.

Couple tries to smuggle cocaine in bible
MEDELLIN, Colombia -- On Good Friday a couple tried to smuggle nearly seven pounds of cocaine hidden in the pages of a bible, police said.
They were at the airport headed to Mexico when police became suspicious due to the weight of the bible. Police said they also discovered an unspecified amount of drugs in their shoe heels and the lining of their clothes.

Abandoned rats in search of good home
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Animal Rescue League of Iowa Inc. is trying to find a home for 60 abandoned rats the organization picked up from the Des Moines animal shelter last Wednesday.
A spokesman for the league said they make great pets. "They are very clean, very social and fun to be around. They like to be around a family," he said.
