I vote for Java 1.4. Specifically, Java 1.4.1+. 1.4.0 is horribly broken with NIO.


Given that OSX doesn't even have a working Java 1.5 yet (and when it does, it will only be for the as-yet-unreleased OSX 10.4), 1.5 seems a bit out of reach.
