Danke Habi! In the meantime I got a reply from the wxWidgets developers. They use the operating system's native controls, i.e. these are intended behaviors of the operating systems concerened for the widgets Choise and ComboBox. So we have a trade-off here: how important is it to use the mouse wheel in the drop down menu in Linux (other systems don't support it anyway) vs. how important it is to have a colored indication of images with CP connections and their quality? What do the users prefer?
