p.s. If the method is not unique or novel, it would be easy to create a method to do the same using a different method but other than SIFT and SURF, there doesn't appear to be progress in that area. Sure there are Harris Corners but SIFT and SURF are much better methods.
Regardless, I seem to be beating a dead horse here. It is clear the feeling here, IMHO, is 'I follow the rules I see fit, ignore the ones I don't see as fit, and have no issue in expecting that my work will not be infringed upon.'
