This is already described as a known problem for hugin installations on
Windows:
<http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ#Windows:_International_Characters_in_Path>
German Umlauts are just a similar problem, the best workaround is what
you did: just don't use special characters in file and directory names.
I have to add that this is no exclusive problem for hugin. I developed
this strange habit to add extensions to file names on a Mac and also use
"compatible" naming for files and folders since we used Win NT file
servers with a crappy "Services for Macintosh".

Hi,
just found out that I get an error 255 when I try to generate control
points if there is a German special character (Ü in my case) in the
name of file paths. After replacing Ü by UE it worked.
Interestingly it also work if I enter the command that is show by the
error message in a console window and start it there manually ..
Is there a chance that this will disappear ?
I am working with the latest trunk version on opensuse 11.2
Cheers
Hans
