Hi all!
We are having quite an interesting problem. We're scanning books fro
the library. Books are very old and they are very specific:
There are no inner margins. I mean, the handwritten text of a left page
continues on a right page. The requirement is that both pages are
perfectly merged into one large page.
We're using the Atiz equipment (http://www.atiz.com) and regarding the
stitching - there are TWO cameras, each makes an image of the page. Of
course, when the left page is captured, a part of the right page is
captured, but FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE. So ... the question is ... is it
possible to perfectly stitch both pages into one page.
As long as the pages are flat, any view point differences
can be resolved by a transform (morph), since there
won't be any parallax differences.

I've use this concept to make a clean photo graph
of the etching on a (flat) polished metal surface.
If you photograph it straight on (the desired image)
you get a mirror image of the camera...
So I took the photo from a off axis viewpoint,
and then corrected.
