MacOSX is not X-based and does not have an X log. It is possible to install
X though to support programs that use X. A lot of the ported linux/bsd
programs in macports and fink can be configured to either use the OSX native
Aqua interface (preferred if possible) or to use X. The entire KDE
environment has been ported but that needs X afaik.

All but the cheapest models nowadays have two video cards. I don't know
Darrell's hardware.
