It could be a codec problem or something else it doesn't like about the file. Does it work with a JPEG? Does your TIFF have an alpha channel?

Sorry, my fault. :(  I got it working.  I was in the wrong folder.

Thomas, no more black image but it did get mirrored horizontal (left to right) image. It is true the image was reversed and that information was stored in the Exif data but I did not expect fulla to use that data. It could also be the default image view that I using "Eye of Gnome" that decided to reverse one but not the other. F-Spot view is also having problems because it shows the original upside down.
