A few years! Do have a look at arecent version, you'll be amazed by
all the new stuff.

Yes. mosaic mode is quite new. It actually implements dealing with
varying camera positions and is overall a very helpful addition,
particularly for the 'mural' or 'mosaic' type of job where the object
is planar. But this is how far it goes; dealing with non-planar object
surfaces isn't there yet and borders on 3D scene reconstruction -
personally I feel that this should be left to specialized tools, but
there has been some discussion on the topic here recently, see for
